A lot of time has passed since our last update. But we haven’t been idle. Here’s a small selection of what has been keeping us busy.
Friends & Family
First, the best part: Farm21 is filling up with people. Robert’s wife Stephie visited during her vacation – and loved it. An important step, as she had previously only seen the property with the houses in their earlier condition.
In addition, Laura and Michael, two good friends, came and worked remotely from here. At times, everyone was working on their own laptops, and Farm21 felt like a coworking space in the middle of the Wilderness.
And: thanks to Michael’s engineering talent, Farm21 will soon operate the first traffic light system in all of Wilderness. More details to follow.
Progress on the long-term vision
- Survey engineers mapped the property using specialized drones and created a precise elevation model.
- An environmental consultancy visited and advised us so that our future application aligns with native vegetation and regulatory requirements.
- The application with George Town Planning for land use and new construction is taking shape: the pre-application can soon be submitted – an important first step.
- Intensive work with the architect: Jaco from SecondCity is spending full days with us, working closely on the initial designs. One thing upfront: it’s gonna be beautiful!
General
- The old Snapper finally gave up, despite various rescue attempts. Welcome Husky. (Video: 0:00–0:50)
- New addition to the Farm21 family: Robert rescued a puppy. Welcome Gobi. (Video: 4:37–7:00)
- We now also have a gallery page. Less text, more pictures!
- Palliative care for the agave bloom: Robert is an aesthete. And he loves challenges. Crooked agave blooms don’t stand a chance here. (Video: 0:51–3:40)
- Workout area: balcony training is now officially an option.
- Thomas’ visa has been submitted in Bern. Now it’s just a matter of waiting.
- Farm21 on Google Maps
One last thing to mention: these are special times. It’s an intense period with all the legal, administrative and physical work piling up – and all of it happening while the team is still incomplete. We’re therefore really looking forward to August, when we’ll all finally be here, can join forces, share joy and balance the workload.
Thanks for being part of this. See you next time!
